first I'd like to than rose for the beautiful logo.

the idea for this group sprung to my mind after I receive a message from Mohamad sh.

he wrote:

Dear everyone,

As you all see my list, i have a 120 friends, part of them palestinian, others from israel and also some from other arab countries and others like USA , EU, and more, i would like to ask a sensitive question to my friends from israel, and also other are welcome to answer it: everyone of us here talking peace, and about peace, and sounds for me life on this is is so great and lovely, seems no hatred and racism, no occupation and war, from big part of the comments i read mostly we say: we want peace, and here is my question: WHEN WE SAY PEACE, WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THIS NICE WORD, WHAT KIND OF PEACE WE WANT, WHERE COULD BE OUR LIMITES, BORDERS AND WHAT CAN WE GIVE TO MAKE PEACE REAL, LOTS OF QUESTIONS THAT FOR SURE NEED A DEEP THINKING TO SATISFY OUR NEEDS.
THANKS

So I answered:

That a really good question. I thank you for it, Mohamad. Peace means a great deal of different things to many people. It is a very personal question. I can tell you about the first things that come to my mind when I close my eyes and think of peace. I see no more wars. I see a time when my grandchildren don't have to spend 3 years of their lives in the army. I see equality and respect between peoples and nations. I see my Arab friends come to visit me at home, I see us going to the beach together. I see myself hanging out with my Lebanese friends in Beirut. But most of all, I see myself being able to get in the car with my dad (who is 87 years old) and 2 sons, and drive to Baghdad, Iraq, through Jordan or Syria. In Baghdad he takes us to the house he was born in, and to all the places he told us so many stories about. There, we close a circle.
These dreams might sound trivial to many, but these simple acts have been denied of so many people in the Middle East.

What would I give for REAL peace? Almost everything.

Then I thought, why limit it to Mohamad's friends. It's an important question. Why not open it up for everybody in iPeace?

Last summer I attended a lecture by Arun Gandhi (grandson of Mahatma Gandhi) & Mairead Corrigan Maguire (Nobel Peace Prize winner) in the Scottish Parliament, here in the historic & beautiful city of Edinburgh.

Mairead spoke of nurturing & cultivating love & peace within yourself, and then sharing it. Arun quoted his Grandfather who spoke of the seed of peace. If this seed is kept in a box it will wither & die. However, if the seed is exposed to the elements it will grow & flourish!

The message is clear, share your peace & let it grow & flourish.

And, with this in mind, please embrace the philosophy behind this movement and share your passion for peace by reaching out and inviting your friends.

I am poet and writer,I soon saw that the world was uneven,in Brazil,India, Africa, China and many other countries,I began to write about the ugly side of the world, I was criticized, still, when I won my first question, it that the government here, to improve Febem (home of child offenders) could then help the children of HIV-positive
(A place for them to learn and know that not everyone has prejudices,)that exist in the world who want equality and peace --- Here we did a campaign for the hungry,(donate a kilo of food) help the hospital's cancer - (poor children with leukemia)
Together with Fatima made the journey in the net to end hunger -----
I came here by chance - I receive many calls, some of them accepted ---
Here in ipeace am enclosing my strength to all who want peace, equality, love and brotherhood
Peace is in the heart of each
Let your imagination dream alive with the beauty of the earth breathing the breeze coming of spring
Let love fill your heart
Let peace invades your life

Peace for an individual is different then for a nation and a continent and the world.
But all rest in the basic principles, If for an individual peace is painting purple circles with flowers and achieving tranquility then his nation must also be at peace.
For a Nation peace implies respect for it's rights as a people so we must understand the difference between pacification and peace. Pacification of neighborhoods may imply arresting teenagers that like to play loud music or rap.
That kind of peace where the majority or the most powerful rule is not necessarily peace for those who are ruled.

Peace is that content feeling that comes when there are no more axes to grind.

Our main power is globality. Exactly the same one other-minded use to trap and enslave. Without common strength and these world-wide fora we all would all sit in our little corner. Let wisdom guide us.

Nelida,

Here is a clip from back in 1968 from the Smothers Brothers. Throughout 1968 he "ran" for president. He was incredibly hilarious back then and still is.

I have always been of the opinion that peace begins with understanding, and understanding begins with dialogue, which is why I feel honored to be a part of this group. Have a nice week, everyone! Sharon

Hello friends and pacifists I would like to see a lively profound discussion with peace makers around the world. On the following agenda. How can the peace movement impact the situation in the middle east and the world. This includes a ground discussion on the basic issues. How to promote a peace movement to grow inside Palestinian and Israeli society. And other basic issues.
But alongside this discussion I would like to see a lively and essential exchange on how the forum itself can have an impact. Sort of like a web based peace movement that discusses and enacts actions day by day on the various Internet networks such as facebook youtube myspace etc.
I am part of many on line peace sites. Humanitarian projects and many forums and discussions. All are fabulous. People love peace people love freedom and justice. People are good. If one takes time to read the various comments on world issues on youtube we will always see a voicefull arrogant racist and right wing presence.
And we can also observe the far extensions of mainstream media in the opinions of many. You will also notice that very few people do leave comments ratings and whatever feedback in ratio to the number of views such a video on youtube gets. So I can also tell you that when 100,000 people go watch a video all of a sudden that video becomes instantly thrown in the top rated and feature categories this is how things work so there is so much room for an organized peace action. WE can see how many people did go see some of the Gaza war reports including those made by the IDF.
So I would love your feedback on this. Send me an e-mail or message me on facebook or inside the forums I will address these to. Spread the word.
PEACE
