Adolf Hitler Cannot Determine this Conflict’s Course

Featured this week on the homepage of the Palestine-Israel Journal, www.pij.org

Several months ago, an Arab lawyer named Khaled Kasab Mahameed and the head of a Holocaust survivor organization were heading to Ramallah to make arrangements between the PLO and that organization. With the two men was a former PLO combatant who had… Continue

Last year on my birthday, Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in Pakistan. This year on my birthday, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) began bombing targets in Gaza to stop the rain of rockets falling on Southern Israel since the end of the ceasefire with Hamas on December 19. I wonder what next year's birthday will bring.

Technically, it is arguable that the incursion into Gaza can be called a war, as it is not a conflict between two countries but rather one country and a political-military… Continue

Online Peace Ongoing

by Heidi Basch

War and peace are two popular media topics in the Middle East. When will war break out and who’s working on a temporary peace to prevent war, which most people believe is inevitable anyhow?

Mainstream journalists, politicians and pundits portray the peace process in the region as one that goes around in circles,… Continue

Hi Heidi,
Are you in California? I have taken off the schooling for the summer, to get my life back in order. It was all too much. Would love to connect with you again. Namaste, Nancy

Bonsoir Heidi,
Abdel

Dearest Heidi!

Accept my friendship with a poem

Some friends are like a flower, and when they finally bloom,
they wilt away in just one day, and sometimes just by noon.

Some friends are like a cloudy day, and when the sun's in sight,
it gets blocked by the greyest cloud and day turns into night.

Some friends are like a maple tree, and with the slightest breeze,
the coloured leaves, they all come loose and float away with ease.

Some friends are like a circle, for they are always true,
I know I have a friend like that and yes, that friend is you.
