Greetings, family, and happy Groundhog's Day!
Neile Donald Walsch's message for today says this: "On this day of your life, dear friend, I believe God wants you to know.......that you should hope to see your shadow today. It
might be the best thing that ever happened to you."
But I digress, as the real point of this blog entry is to share about Day 4 of the Season For Nonviolence. Today's word is "Caring," and the affirmation that accompanies it is, "Today, I affirm my value and worth with positive 'self talk' and refuse to put myself down."
According to Peter McWilliams, "Nonviolence toward the self is caring for oneself. Self love is a crowning sense of self worth; it is what the Greeks call reverence for the self."
Real caring is not just what we say, but what we do. The first resource we have to take care of is our own bodies, for they are not really our own; rather, they belong to "life." Taking care of our bodies is a demonstration of nonviolence.
Today's recommended activity is to make a list of 5 ways you can take better care of yourself--physically or mentally--and to practice at least one throughout the day.
Christian Prayer for Peace: "But I say to you that hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons and daughters of God."
I WANT TO BE AT PEACE (Janis Kelly @2009)
I want to be at peace within my heart;
I want to be at peace within my soul;
I want to be at peace within my mind;
I want to be at peace within my life;
I want to be an instrument--of Love's perfect peace.
It all starts with me;
It all starts today;
It all starts with my thinking, my feeling, my doing;
Starts with what I say.
It all starts right here;
It all starts right now;
It all starts when I realize my own path toward peace;
Will help to show the world how.
I want to have:
Peace--within;
Peace--around;
Peace--throughout;
May peace abound.
I want to be an instrument--of Love's perfect peace.
