I had a vision…

This week my video camera died, so the video I’d recorded about “how my music came into being” was garbled and will have to wait. I am late in posting and decided to share my slide show of last summer’s trip to the Pecos Ruins and Spanish Mission here in New Mexico. There is an interesting story behind this video.

I’m almost always conscious while I sleep. Although asleep I’m fully aware of my dreams, feelings and insights. Late last night when I put together this sideshow, I was thinking about the importance of respecting cultural differences. It was only a passing thought, although something I live by. Nonetheless, when I went to bed I started to dream. In the middle of my dream arose another stream of consciousness. I was sitting in one of the kivas shown in this slide show. Golden light shafted through the opening in the ceiling and I heard a voice say, “Watch what I show you Robin. It is important that you share it.”

In the vision I saw myself telling my sweetheart that Obama’s presidency was history making (a discussion we actually had). I then told him about an article I’d read that stated it was still easier for America to accept a man as president rather than a woman, even if that man had dark skin. The article said how women overall still rank beneath men of colored skin (which also is something we had talked about). Again, the voice spoke, “Look at this and feel it.”

I then saw a white woman as president, then a black woman as president. Then the voice said, “It doesn’t stop there Robin. What else is being left out?” I then saw a gay man as president, then a gay woman as president, then a gay black man as president and a gay black woman as president. I then saw a gay man as president dancing with his male partner at the inaugural ball. Then I saw a Native American as president and joyously laughed over the irony of a Native American finally running a country that was his/hers to begin with. Then I saw a gay Native American running the country, followed by a Chinese American as president.

The voice said, “There are STILL those being excluded. It has to be a clean sweep. What about the woman who was a hooker when she was young but is now deeply wise from her rough and tumble life? What about the man who did drugs when he was young but now goes to high schools to inspire kids to live healthy lives? What about all the EXTREMELY valuable people all over America who have lived real lives and grown from their “supposed” mistakes….do they get to be included too? How do you feel about all this Robin?”

I laughed and wept as I saw the potential of humankind…humans united in kindness. I saw a GREAT world that I’m part of. I truly believe I witness the birth of humanity’s healing. We have such a long way to go, but today I claim what I know to be true. When I lived in the rainforest of Australia I had many visions. In one reoccurring vision I experienced the future of humanity…hundreds of years down the road. In this vision we humans survive, but our world is not as we know it today. It is a world of great peace, learning and equality. For me, our current behavior and thinking is archaic. Nonetheless, I believe in the greatness of humanity. Even with all the world’s horror my heart is filled with compassion and love.

I believe in and support you who strive for equality. I stand with you…unafraid. In my heart equality is not a belief; it is a REALITY. We ALL are equal. We ALL have a past and we ALL have the ability to rise to greatness. In my eyes YOU are ME.
