INTIMACY OF FLOWERS: An intimate look at flowers: their colors, shapes and enduring beauty. A simple 2:35 minute slide show with some thoughts on intimacy at the end of the sideshow. Again, the music is a piece I dreamed and recorded.

Okay my very wise friends,
this week I ask each of you to share your thoughts on intimacy. For this contest we will NOT include intimacy between lovers, spouses, etc. That form of intimacy is beautiful, but today we are trying to uncover something different. For example: you've often heard me refer to my intimate relationship with Life or Nature, both are relationships I experience daily. Today I ask you to share a moment in which you experienced intimacy. Or you can share your definition of intimacy. The reason for excluding "lover or spousal intimacy" from this contest is to explore a broader concept of intimacy. At the end of the video, in the credits, I have shared some of my thoughts on what it means for me to LIVE intimately.

All comments of substance
will be put into a hat and the winner drawn. By "substance" I do not mean that your comment has to be long or that it can't be humorous, as both brevity and humor can be intimate. But your comment has to be more than: "Great post. Loved the slideshow." (Chuckle) Although I appreciate ALL comments, to have your comment go into the hat it must be more than, "I love flowers." The winner will receive a brand new Daintree Rainforest Project t-shirt. (Sm, Med or Lrg - See Photos Below)

I will let the contest run for
about a week (or more if needed), unless comments slow down then the contest will be closed. I'll notify you of the winner in my next post. Have fun exploring what it means to live a life of intimacy.

I look forward to your insights.
Have fun,
Robin

Dear George,

I am absolutely moved to tears by this open hearted sharing of yours. In reading this I got to see/feel the world through your eyes. And the thing that hit me the hardest was, "This human being is making a HUGE difference in the world in which he lives and he is also VERY aware of the world around them."

I am SO glad that you are a teacher. If I had had more teachers like you, even one teacher like you it would have made a big difference in my youth. I am profoundly changed by the way you move through the world with SUCH an open heart. My word! I live like that but don't often see it in other adults. Although I've not met you I felt a swelling pride for who you are choosing to be. It is people like you who change and shape the world.

Having lived wild and remote for several years of my adult life, I completely related to your stories of the dear and dragon flies. Your descriptions here of both reflect someone who has a very close relationship with the wild world around them as well. Oh this is just so exciting. All of it. I absolutely APPLAUD you for living your life with an open, caring and aware heart. Also...also..what you said: "....intimacy is close enough interaction to feel the essesne of the other being if only for a moment, touching is not necessary." I was just telling someone this the day I did this blog post. Fantastic for me to see the same insight. Very Life affirming.

You keep being you George because you ARE making a difference in these kid's lives (in eveyone you come in contact with). I KNOW it to be true. And you are contributing to the massive shift happening all over the planet of people who are opening their hearts and minds and embracing love, healing, and positive change. You are great force in the world.

Thank you for sharing your wonderfully refreshing and inspiring insights here.
I am honored.
Yes, in Peace.

Hello Robin,
I do like your work so I want to respond to your request. After thinking a little while intimacy for me is a shared closeness of the moment when hearts are responding to each other. As a shop teacher I have many of these with my students, especially the younger middle school students. It is with both boys and girls at the younger age but the high school boys usally begin distancing themselves in realtionships so in high school it is usually girls. This year my best students in high school woodshop are girls. We share each other for the moment and enjoy each others spirit. It is the best part of being a teacher. In shop we are up and about communicating one to one. They may be sharing fears and I encouragment, then together accomplishment. Working to be an open hearted person and giving all I can. I have learned recently that the heart has neuro receptors that send information to the brain, it is documented in science now. I nature I try to have a relationship with the deer that live around me. I try to talk to them, they may stop and listen for a moment but then their ears go back and they walk away at an ever increasing speed. I have had what I have felt intimate moments with dragon flys as the stop by to eat the head of a deer fly on my shoulder. I have something special for dragon flys. Anyways to me intimacy is close enough interaction to feel the essesne of the other being if only for a moment, touching is not necessary.
Peace,
George Williston thistribeofmine.com
