They could and did,
Rip you from my arms,
Blot you from my sight,
Removed from my vicinity,
The smell of sweet baby
skin and hair.

They could and did,
Change your names
So precious to me
That they still sing to
My hearing
As do your voices
In my dreams
When sleep will come.

They could and did
all of that,

But they could not and
They not take
You from my memory
Nor my heart
Neither my soul.
