The three white feathers represent the Raukura.
The Raukura is a legacy left for all people by the Prophets of Parihaka in Taranaki.
It conveys the following message:
Kororia ki te Atua I runga rawa (Glory to God on high)
Maungarongo ki runga I te whenua (Peace on earth)
Whakaaro pai ki nga tangata katoa (Goodwill to all mankind)

This message was a central teaching of the prophets,
Te Whiti o Rongomai and Tohu Kakahi of Parihaka.
They started the passive resistance movement in Aotearoa/New Zealand fifty years before Mahatma Ghandi introduced similar ideas in India.

The three elements as represented by the Raukura are:
An acknowledgement of spirituality and spiritual forces.
The importance of making peace within yourself and with others.
The necessity of maintaining goodwill, despite conflict.

Wear the Raukura (Albatross feathers)to demonstrate a commitment to resolve conflict through peaceful means.

I have a book that was written by a women who did the research, for Parihaka Treaty Claim. As Maori we where luck we sign a Treaty which call the Treaty o Waitangi signed in 1840 and since 1975 we have been readdressing the crown breeches of this Treaty. and each Tribe over the last 34 years have been challenging the Crown(goverment)and this book call The Darkess hours is written in away that it is a true account, not a historian interpretation, and I know this women and she is pakeha(white person)who was bless by my whanau of Parihaka to do this.My Tribe are just starting to do our claim. I don't know if you know about the All Black well it is our national rugby team and when they start a game they do a haka, which was composed by a Chief of one of my tribes, and it is amazing that it has travel the world and this tupuna(ancestor)was a great warrior, but at the end of his time he became a peacemaker of the 2 tribes that I am affliated to Ngati Toa, Ngati Awa, these tribes came down from Taranaki where Parihaka is to the Kapiti Coast where I live. I have many marae, a place I stand and a place we gather for tangi(deaths)celebration,which we call hui (gathering).Where I live Whakarongotai Marae, where I well go when I leave this world Hongoeka Marae, Ngati Toa marae. Mauri ora Ani

you have honestly expressed the problems at home and acceptance of our own fault is the greatest quality that we can have to develop our inner quality, it is surely not easy that's why people always denies our own faults. In Buddhism it says, Until we subdue our own negative elements and before we even try to subdue others we must subdue our own heart!
