I think that you bring up an interesting point about an obstacle to peace i.e. "people's inability to expand their minds and think beyond what they are taught." and societies do quite a job socializing their populations.

French naval officer, explorer, ecologist, filmmaker, innovator,
scientist, photographer, author and researcher who studied the sea
and all forms of life in water.

He co-developed the aqua-lung (Feb 3, 1943), pioneered marine
conservation and was a member of the Académie française.
