You are the Enemy. We have hated, killed and died: our bodies muscled into postures of aggression, our minds imprisoned in incessant terror. We have engaged in slaughter across flaming deserts, in frozen wastelands; mutual destroyers, in burned out cities of smoldering rubble, in lifetimes of bloodshed, in eons of ashes.

Today I throw away my weapons. The systems are being dismantled; the machinery of madness is wrenched asunder. Are you hungry, my enemy? Here is food, my friend. Do you need shelter? Let us build together. How are you parents, your white haired elders? I can give medicine. What of your children, do they need education? We can teach stories; paint rainbow bridges of alternative directions; hand them a future free from the fears of our past, free from false answers.

Let us share this hour: speak quietly to one another, give the gift of unveiled glances; listen to heartbeats, raindrops of wonderment, mortal respiration. After so much terror, communion, communion like this; like softness of a kiss, like bread freshly baked and the simplicity of water; is refreshing, liberating our tortured, maimed and bloodied souls.

Most important of all—my enemy, my new friend—here is my hand, both hands, clean of propaganda, empty of deception, warmly open. More important than that—this is my face, my face without mask, my eyes to look into. I want… my Enemy, my Friend… I need to trust you, for you now, before it is too late, before it is later than the darkness, also, as well and equally, to trust me—to meet me on common ground. Outside of the cancer wards of power and back rooms of genocide and the cold crimes of hatred.

Let us now—now, which is always where we are—let us stop gnawing on the bitter roots of envy and vengeance. Let us stop feeding our innards on the poison fruits of the tree of Cain. But rather, let us answer for one another and say, “I give in peace and receive in peace. And war no more.”

David,
thank you for posting your poems and your comment about Neda and Iran here. you said what I feel so beautifully.

And Ashok, I agree with you, hatred seems so backward and non-productive. We all contain the same seed of life and that is love. That seed will grow lovingkindness and mindfullness and oneness when tended carefully. We are all one.

Blessings to you all,
Elizabeth

Dear friends, greetings ! We all are brothers/friends so we should love to each other not hate. When God is one then why we can not be one ????
Let us develop universal brotherhood ....which will create peace, happiness as well as love. Thanks .

Prayers and solidarity with the people of Iran. While we enjoy our artistry and freedom of expression, let us not forget those whose lives are on the edge, who are at risk and in harms way because the dinosaurs of politics equate power with violence. The young woman who died of government gunshot in a street in Tehran and died in her father’s arms, died on our Father’s Day. Her name is Neda.

The poem below was written at another time and for another purpose. Yet much of it applies.

PRISONERS

Sometimes the longing for peace and justice
erupts in me like earth rumbling,
splitting history apart.
Sometimes like valley of tears
flooding my soul – sometimes,
in my quiet hours, like flowers
from bleak ravines, breathing
in sunlight and chaste dew of dawn.

I live in a cruel nation,
in a time of violent
thoughts and deeds. In a place
where war addiction
plays out to endgame. And
here a man’s appearance counts, not his heart.
Often we are imprisoned
for things we did not do.

Sometimes the longing stirs in me
for truth and freedom
from the degradation
that saps my soul and
ignores my plea.

My dark is the dark
of men in cells, secreted, tortured. Betrayed.
My light is their liberty.

CHILDREN OF THE EARTH

Something happens here, this perpetual—the Earth. Call it God-seeds, seeds of light, the miracle of life; call it love or call it magic. It fills our veins, yet teems beyond us.

The squid, the jellyfish, the sea lion, the orca, the elegant ray, the humpback whale; dove, raven, hummingbird, robin, the heron, eagle and the jay;

butterfly, dragonfly
fire ant and bee; the wolf, the fox,

white tiger, black panther, tree toad, desert tortoise, the panda and the polar bear. Then there is us. Human. Question mark.

The unanswered asking that snakes through everything; screams terror, dreams in ecstasy. The ones who

boast of speaking with God—God interpreters—who cast thick shadows of destruction and amplified death. Listen now.

Say with me: Roundness all around. This perpetual—the Earth. Scurrying in the grass, humming on the wind, whispering melodies along motive water; sun on the colors of flowers, the carnival benign of pollen down flanks of praying mountains, out over meadows, into the humility of valleys. The swish of frogs and fishes among rushes; rattling reeds.

The reverent are amazed and will forego explanation. Goodness is to abide. Thanks, an antidote to violence, gladly given. Wisdom is to be still at certain intervals along this pilgrimage and observe with godlike laughter gutting, though yet demure. Look now. Listen.

Say with me: Behold the interplay intimate of angels and trees. Prophet,

what will you tell your lover when asked to recite the psalms of creation? And as you were held tenderly in dreamtime of childhood, how do you forget
the children of the Earth?

LEAD US NOT INTO EXTINCTION
Prayer Of The Animals

Our kin,
who now possess the land
where once we roamed,
plentiful and free,
lead us not into extinction,
but deliver us from the devouring
dis-ease of human greed.

Give us this day
(even unto the seventh generation)
a belonging-place to be
what we are, and in harmony
with All Our Relations.

For yours is the power
to restore or further destroy
the Sacred Hoop of Creation.

Make a warrior’s choice
by honoring unity in diversity
of the Great Mystery.
Let Spirit guide you
back to Creator’s vision-dream:
We Are All One Family.

Think tank in July in Portugal at Tamera Peace Research Center

Tamera Summer University - 29th July - 7th August 09 in Portugal :
"Global Grace Village - Creating Models for a Future without War"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0DFy9Omq_8 (4min)

Do we know what a small group of people following a clear vision of the future can change? Those who want to end war need a vision for peace. After three years of peace research of the Monte Cerro Peace Experiment, Tamera Peace Research Center invites to a summer of vision building. Stay tuned for speakers.
We call this vision of peace Global Grace Village. We assume that when the first planetary peace model is fully realized in all its depths, it will be a decisive contribution to a future without war.
Warm Welcome !
