When it comes to peace, how would you describe yourself?
I am a born activist
What do you believe are the 'burning issues' today?
War, Hunger, Poverty, Education, Violence, Inflation, Human Rights, Our Shrinking Freedom, Other
So what is it?
Mankind has been at war, killing, persacuting, oppressing each other since the beginning of our time on this planet. To answer this question we need the answer to why? Is it as instinctual as animals killing for food, territory and survival? We have evolved as a race, can continue to evolve, will the human race ever evolve beyond greed, hatred, racism? I don't know? But I believe we will.
What must we overcome to achieve peace?
Ever since I was a child I never understood how people could kill in the name of God (no matter which God) or why wars existed, why anyone could abuse or kill a child or animal, why someone could so easily murder another person for money or "things". Why did people hate someone just because of their color, religion, race or sexual preference? I did not understand violence and hate, of any kind. I decided at a very young age I wanted no part of any of it. I educated myself on history of religions, wars, racism. The world seemed like such an ugly place to me.As I grew up I decided to change it - random acts of kindness, helping those who could not help themselves, whenever or however I could. As I had a family of my own I did best I could to teach tolerance and acceptance of (All) people.. different than us, to love not hate. To be grateful for what we had. Greed & jealousy creates discontent and violence, intolerance & fear of others different than ourselves creates racism breeds hate and leads to violence. I embrace and love diversity in all people and the world. I give thanks every day for all blessings, great and small..rather than focusing on what I don't have & difficulties in my life and round the world. Sending out unconditional love, understanding and joy. Positive thought, giving no power to the negative.
Can we change the world?

My dear Leah, thank you for writing with such joy and happiness. Yes, it was a horrible time. The first time we were parted was for 20 weeks and that was hard, but this time... FIFTY FOUR WEEKS! It was Hell on Earth :(
It is so amazing having her back, but as you said, we do have to adjust and get used to being together. Thankfully we are very much in love and being apart has made us much closer together. Living with one another is not going to be a problem. Don't get me wrong, it will take a couple of months to find true harmony and we won't really find that until Maggie gets a job, we have money coming in, the debts get paid etc. THEN we can live. Oh, and her giving up smoking will be a bonus too :P
I hope everything is going well with you and your cats. You still have your cats?
Merry Christmas, have a very Happy New Year and I hope we get to meet one day xxx
Hey Pixie, yes it's been ages.We haven't really spoken since you and Des parted company. I think I knew you had moved to Arizona though. Good and bad things there - such indeed is life - but I guess at least it's a lot warmer!
Hmm, I guess if you haven't been in FB recently, you won't know... Maggie is home! 54 weeks after she left the UK and one day after the stupid UK Borders Agency in Rio realised she was an American, her visa was approved! October 31st, a day before she had planned to return to NYC to get out of Argentina and save her life. She stayed there for a couple of weeks with her best friend, whilst the visa was stamped in her passport and returned (and passport lost and found lol) and she came back here on November 18. We are VERY happy.
Now simply resting and relaxing; getting Maggie's brain in order (Argentina destroyed her); getting her to visit doctors, dentists etc; and simply getting used to being a couple again :)
It's nice to stay in touch; sorry for my silence, but it's been a busy year and-a-bit, and now I am very busy with Maggie xxx
